1.
Based
on your reflections, and on a scale of 1 to 10 (ten being optimal wellbeing),
where do you rate your A-physical wellbeing, B-spiritual well-being,
C-psychological well-being? Why?
I
would put my physical wellbeing at a 7. I am bouncing back from an injury.
I
consider my spiritual well being to be at an 8.
My
psychological well-being is at an 8 also. I have to realistic and note that I
do have bad days.
2.
Develop
a goal for yourself in each area (physical, spiritual, psychological).
Physical-Run
1.5 miles in the near future
Spiritual-
Practice yoga three times a week and meditate at least 3 times a week
Psychological-
I need to use resiliency techniques in my everyday life
3.
What
activities or exercise can you implement in your life to assist in moving
toward each goal?
I
honestly believe that Bikram yoga helps me on all of these fronts. I fell more
in touch with myself and my surrounding when I have a regular practice.
Physically I am in better shape after the workouts. Psychologically I can better
deal with my day and what is going on when after enduring the workout. It calms
my mind.
Coeli,
ReplyDeleteI think it's great to reflect like this to see where we're at, and choose where we want to be. You sound like a pretty positive person and that helps all levels of wellness. You just motivated me to get to the gym and run a little bit. I used to run 2 miles every other day, but had to stop after hurting my knees and my back in Bikram yoga. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved it. I did it 3-5 days a week for a year. It made me so strong in so many ways just like you seem to feel. I can hardly say that I regret doing Bikram yoga because it has done so much good for me. But...it's been 2 years since I've done it, and I'm still struggling to heal my back and knees. I love that you put yoga and meditation as ways to work on your spirituality. I feel the same way.
I think it is interesting how your ratings are all nearly in the same area. Mine were the same way. I am curious if anyone found one area of their wellbeing to be deficient compared to the others.I think you chose good goals to improve upon. Hopefully, these goals can be achieved so you can feel as well as you would like. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI have never tried Bikram yoga. I'll have to look into that. Exercise is great for mind, body, and spirit. I agree with the saying that it is one of the most underused anti-depressants. I feel great after exercising. Running is a great physical goal. I too would like to start running more.
